Description: (1887-1954) American physicist, brother of Nobel Laureate Arthur H. and educator Wilson. Professor of physics and Princeton department chairman 1915-30. President and Chairman of Massachusetts Institute of Technology 1930-48. Chairman of the US Scientific Advisory Board 1933-35, member of the National Defense Research Committee 1940-54. Defended use of the atomic bombs in 1945.
