(1870-1944) NY architect with LaFarge and Morris and Morris & O’Connor. Participated in design for the New York City Public Library while at Carrere and Hastings. He was principal architect of the interiors of most major public rooms and corridors on the ocean liner Queen Mary, one of the largest custom interior design projects in human history, the companies contracted to complete the interiors the most famous in British furniture design and manufacturing history. He did work at Trinity College, Princeton University, designed NYC’s Asia Society Building, the Cunard Building at 25 Broadway in NYC (now the Standard and Poors Building) Bank of New York & Trust Co., 1928 Morgan Library Annex, Connecticut State Armory, major buildings in Hartford, Conn., the 1st skyscraper in Portland Ore. (1907) and J.P. Morgan’s Long Island estate. Designed 1st conceptual plan for what became Rockefeller Center while the Metropolitan Opera’s architect, and was on interior design team for the 1st Queen Elizabeth. Received 1918 Architectural League of New York gold medal, served as president of the NY AIA Chapter and on US Fine Arts Commission. 10 x 8 TLS on his professional letterhead, NYC, June 13 1927, to W. K. Gregory, American Museum of Natural History, NYC. Morris sends a signature and check as subscription to Queen Anne plate to be presented to Dr. (Henry Fairfield, Museum President) Osborn, with best wishes for project and congratulations to Osborn.
