(1900-1986) Prime Minister of Finland 1950-53, 1954–56, President 1956–81. He continued the "active neutrality" policy of President Paasikivi, known as the Paasikivi-Kekkonen Line, which allowed Finland to retain independence and trade with both the nations of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and the Warsaw Pact. He was the longest-serving President of Finland. In 1979 Urho Kekkonen was awarded the Lenin Peace Prize. Signed 3 ¾ x 6 ½ US 5c Winston Churchill commemorative stamp cacheted First Day Cover, postmarked “First Day of Issue”, Fulton, Mo.(site of his famous “Iron Curtain” speech), May 13, 1965.
