(1764-1848) British diplomat and traveler, Governor of the Cape of Good Hope 1797, Admiralty Secretary 1804-6, 1807-45. Founder of the Royal Geographical Society 1830, promoted Arctic exploration. Barrow Strait, Point Barrow, Cape Barrow, Barrow, Alaska, Barrow’s Goldeneye duck are named for him. 3 x 4 ¾ folded letter panel addressed by Barrow to Miss Parsons, Woolmers, Hartford, franked by him at lower left, London, October 3 1821 “free” red crown postmark top right.

Condition: Good, light soiling and wear, signature with mild blot/smearing
