(1879-1955) Secretary of Agriculture 1925-29 (Coolidge). Professor of agronomy at his alma mater, Utah State University, accepted position of agronomist at Kansas State Agricultural College 1910. Named dean of Division of Agriculture and Director of the Agriculture Experiment Station 1913. 7th President of Kansas State University 1918-25, penned several handbooks published by the Kansas State Council of Defense. Secretary of Agriculture (Coolidge) 1925-29, played integral part in 1926 formation of the Board of Trade Clearing Corporation after the Chicago Board of Trade adopted his suggestions for regular reporting of large trader positions, a business conduct committee, and the formation of a centralized clearing house.
