Description:
(1860–1942) Colorado physician, Harding Postmaster General 1922–23. After exposure of Albert B. Fall in the Teapot Dome Scandal, succeeded him (1923) as Secretary of the Interior and reorganized the department. Resigned 1928 to become Republican National Chairman (1928–29) and managed Herbert Hoover's successful campaign for the presidency. SP, 4 ¾ x 6 ¾ b&w bust portrait while Interior Secretary, tipped onto 9 x 7 Harris & Ewing of Washington DC embossed studio mount, signed on mount, adds year 1926.
