Price: $35.00 Special Offer - $30.00

Description:
(1929-2007) Missouri US Senator 1968-87, nominated as 1972 Democratic VP candidate with George McGovern, dumped after psychiatric treatment disclosures and replaced by Sargent Shriver. Between 1960-66, Eagleton checked himself into a hospital 3 times for physical and nervous exhaustion, receiving electric shock treatments twice. McGovern said he would back Eagleton 1000%, but on August 1, Eagleton withdrew at McGovern's request. McGovern's handling of the controversy was an opening for the GOP to raise serious questions about his judgement. In the general election, the Democratic ticket won only Massachusetts and the District of Columbia. ISP, 10 x 8 bust portrait at microphone as US Senator, adds sentiment and U.S.S. 1976.
