Price: $150.00

Description:
(1928-2005) Dallas Police officer 1955-1980, he was the officer who arrested Lee Harvey Oswald little more than an hour after the Nov. 22, 1963 assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Officer McDonald arrived at Dealey Plaza minutes after Kennedy was shot. Shortly afterward, he was sent to a movie theater after a suspicious person had been reported. As Officer McDonald approached the suspect in the darkened theater, Oswald rose from his seat and struck him, then pushed a pistol into McDonald’s abdomen and pulled the trigger. The gun's hammer was blocked by the flesh of Officer McDonald's palm, nd he was arrested. Oswald was shot to death 2 days later while in police custody by nightclub owner Jack Ruby. Dallas Police officer J. D. Tippit, whom Oswald is suspected of killing shortly after shooting the President, was McDonald's lockermate at police headquarters. McDonald retired from the Dallas Police Dept. in 1980 after 25 years of service. Good content self-typed TLS “Maurice N. McDonald”, signed as “Detective, DPD (Captor of Oswald)”, on 11 x 8 ½ "City of Dallas/ Texas/Police Department” letterhead, June 20 1967, to an Indiana collector. McDonald is sorry he has not received desired responses from others (presumably involved in Oswald’s capture and death), he has personally answered every letter received and fulfilled every request in his own time and at his expense. He suggests the collector contact Marie Tippit (widow of the Dallas policeman killed by Oswald before his capture in a Dallas movie theater), and sends mailing address of the remarried widow. With envelope.
