(1812-1888) American actor, son of an actor and cousin of Joseph Jefferson, debuted at Philadelphia's Arch Street Theatre 1832, later appearing in New York, boston, and at Strand Theatre in London in 1845. From 1846 until retiring 36 years later he was permanently connected with Boston's Howard Athenaeum, particularly successful in playing fine old English gentlemen, most notably Sir Peter Teazle in "The School for Scandal", Dr. Pangloss in "The Heir at Law", and Touchstone in "As You Like It". 1-3/4 x 4 autograph sentiment signed, Boston, Nov. 1881 mounted on 8-1/2 x 5-3/4 sheet below an original photograph of Warren on stage in character.
