(1773-1841) Governor of Indiana Territory 1800-1812, hero of War of 1812, defeated Indians at Battle of Tippecanoe. Ohio US Rep. 1816-19 & Senator 1825-28, Minister to Colombia 1828-29. 1836 & 1840 Whig presidential candidate, nominated Dec. 1839, elected Dec. 2, 1840, inaugurated March 4 1841, died April 4 1841 of pneumonia. 6 x 3 1/2 ADS "W. H. Harrison" while the Whig Party presidential nominee, Cincinnati, July 29 1840, request to Phelps & Son to furnish Dr. Thornton with the $35 (?) picked out and issue if he chooses (?). Last part is somewhat illegible. ADSs or other items of Harrison as President are virtually unobtainable; items signed as/while President-elect or as presidential nominee are the next best thing for a good presidential collection. Harrison's daughter Anna Symmes Harrison (1809-1842) married Dr. John Henry Fitzhugh Thornton (1798-1871) in 1829.

Condition: Good, cut from larger piece but wholly intact,soil staining, folds strenghtened on verso
