(1872-1930) Son of William C. Whitney, trained to take over his father's huge financial interests and was associated with Guggenheim interests in ownership of mining properties in the American west and in Mexico. A noted polo player he captained the US team that bested England for the international cup in 1909 and successfully defended it in 1911 & 1913. He also continued his father's interest in horse breeding and racing thru the Whitney stables. He also financed a 1921-22 American Museum of Natural History expedition to the South Seas to collect Polynesian birds. He was married to Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney in 1896, she a noteworthy sculptress and patron of the New York City Whitney Museum of American Art. 7 x 8 partly-printed undated DS, Guaranty Trust Co. of New York "Irrevocable Stock Power for an Individual, Partnership or Corporation" form transferring to an unstated party 99 shares of 2nd Preferred Mack Trucks, Inc. stock signed by Whitney and a witness. Pencil notations at top and right side in another hand.
