Virginia Governor 1811, Secretary of State 1811-17 and Secretary of War 1814 (Madison), President 1817-25. University of Virginia Regent 1826.a 2 1/2 x 5 Address panel from a folded letter addressed to John Randolph Esq., Richmond, franked "Dept. of State/Jas Monroe" at top right, postmarked Jan. 9, no year (but 1811-17), stamped "FREE" below his franking signature. With color postcard reproduction portrait of Monroe by Gilbert Stuart ca. 1817 for matting and framing.

Condition: Very good, slight wrinkling, postmark partially present
