(b. 1924) Texas US Rep, US Ambassador to China & UN, US VP 1981-89 (Reagan), President 1989-1993. Father of President George W. Bush (2001-09) and Florida governor and 2016 GOP presidential hopeful Jeb Bush. ALS "Best/George" on his 10 1/2 x 7 1/4 Houston, Texas office letterhead, May 12, no year but likely 1979, to "Dear Barnee" (Breeskin). Bush acknowledges receipt of his April 24 letter and appreciates Breeskin's advice (unknown) which Bush will take. He notes that he is "on the road all the time" (his emphasis), and closes optimistically, stating: "You watch, Barnee, I'm going to win it." Barnee Breeskin (1910-1989) Led the orchestra at the Shoreham Hotel’s Blue Room 1930-56, and in 1938 wrote and obtained copyright for the music for "Hail to the Redskins." He was a long-time Washington public relations executive and early friend and supporter of Bush.
