(1888-1965) Iowa editor of “Wallace’s Farmer”, advocated government intervention in agricultural production during the Depression. In 1933, President Roosevelt appointed liberal Republican Wallace Secretary of Agriculture, a post his father, Henry C. Wallace, occupied 1921-24. Secretary of Agriculture 1933-40, Vice President 1940-44, Secretary of Commerce (Truman) 1945-46; 1948 Progressive Party presidential candidate. Nice 8 x 6 steel engraved bust portrait likely as VP, his name engraved below oval portrait, boldly signed in blue fountain pen ink.
