(née Hasselbeck, 1849-1927) Notable Wagnerian soprano, debuted in Munich in 1871 as Waltraute in 'Die Walkure" and engagements followed in Berlin and Leipzig. She married Josef Sucher (1844-1908) in 1876, when he was conductor at the Leipzig city theatre. Frau Sucher soon became famous for her Wagnerian operatic roles, as principal soprano of the Hamburg Opera 1879 and with 1882 and 1892 London proving her great capacity both as singer and actress. She sang at Bayreuth 1886 & 1888, and was principal soprano of Berlin Opera 1888-1899 ( her husband uits principal conductor). She debuted in the US as Isolde in 1895, retiring in 1903. Her rendering of Isolde was especially acclaimed. Her other famous roles included Agathe, Euryanthe, Elsa, Eva, Brünnhilde, Kundry, and Desdemona. Signed 2 3/4 x 4 ½ slip, Boston, 1895.
