(1891-1939) Playwright, won ’24 Pulitzer for "They Knew What They Wanted". Also wrote "The Silver Cord" ’26, "Salvation" (with Chas. MacArthur) ’28, "The Late Christopher Bean" ’32 (adapted from the French), "Alien Corn" ’33, "Yellow Jack" (with Paul de Kruif) ’34, "Dodsworth" ’34, "Ghost of Yankee Doodle" ’37, and screenplays for "Arrowsmith", "Dodsworth", and, most famously, "Gone with the Wind" (posthumous Oscar). 13 x 8 ˝ DS, NYC, March 9 1928, 3pp (separate leaves), signed on 2nd page, exclusive contract for South African (including Rhodesia, Portuguese East and British East and West Africa) rights to production of Howard’s 3-act play "The Silver Cord" for $900 for period of all existing or renewed copyrights. Uncommon autogaph!
